Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Purpose and Background: One of the valuable works of the Safavid period is the philosophical treatise "Mataleb al-Ishaq" by Mulla Mir Qari Gilani. This work, which is a literary prose mixed with poetry and one of the noble texts of this period, in addition to dealing with romantic and lyrical themes, also has moral, wisdom, and advice themes. The purpose of this research is to introduce the manuscript and examine the stylistic features of Mataleb al-Ishaq from a linguistic, literary, and intellectual perspective.
METHODOLOGY: Research Method: This research is a library and descriptive-analytical method. The scope of this research and what has been considered as the community of study and investigation in this research is the manuscript of Mullah Mir Qari Gilani"s "Ma"al-ul-Ashaq" which is available in the manuscript treasury of the Central Library of Tehran University.
FINDINGS: Findings: The use of Arabic words, combinations, additions, and terms instead of common Persian words, which, although characteristic of the style of this period, shows the author"s level of mastery and knowledge of Arabic vocabulary. His poems have music with all kinds of alliteration, puns, and repetition. The use of synonyms, which often leads to confusion, the succession of additions in descriptions, the omission of verbs to the verbal equivalent, and the presence of poems by other poets without mentioning their names in the text are among the most important literary features of Al-Ishaq"s material.
CONCLUSION: Conclusion: In this book, Mulla Mir Qari Gilani examines different perspectives on the types of love and presents examples of poems by poets and mystics in this field. The author has used beautiful and eloquent language to express his content. There are many literary devices in this work, the most important of which is puns. The presence of poems by other poets without mentioning their names in the text is one of the most important literary features of the contents of Al-Ashqa. Regarding the "intellectual features" of this work, it can be said that the content begins with praise and thanksgiving to God, followed by praise and adoration of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and praise and adoration of Shah Abbas Safavi.
